The cost of fused silica is not settled by a unit price alone. Buyers compare the landed cost of a defined shipment. The factors that usually change that cost are the grade, the particle size, the quantity, the packing, the Incoterm, the destination, and whether the shipment is a 100-500 kg trial.

Grade and particle size

A Grade and B Grade are different specifications because the typical chemistry is different. A mesh cut and a millimetre cut are also different products. Ask for the grade and the size the plant uses, and compare quotations that name both. This note does not publish a price.

Quantity and the choice of packing

Incoterm and destination

The same material can arrive at a different landed cost in Europe, the United States or Brazil, because freight, the Incoterm and local receiving are not the same. Whether the shipment is a trial

A 100-500 kg trial, subject to product and shipping confirmation, is a separate cost case from a later production quantity. Freight is spread over fewer kilograms. Read the trial arrangement before you compare a trial quotation with a quotation for a larger lot.
