How to Qualify a New Fused Silica Supplier Without Risking Production

Changing a raw material supplier can affect product quality, process stability and purchasing costs. A structured qualification process helps industrial buyers evaluate a new source before making a larger commitment.
Step 1: Define acceptance criteria
Record the required grade, particle size, chemical composition and any other relevant parameters. The quality-control page describes checks buyers often keep with the specification.
Step 2: Review documentation
Obtain the applicable TDS and COA. Resolve differences between the proposed material and the current specification. Compare the offered lot with the COA.
Step 3: Evaluate a sample
Where appropriate, compare the sample against your existing material and conduct relevant laboratory tests.
Step 4: Place a controlled trial order
A 100–500 kg order may be suitable for some applications, subject to the product, minimum order requirements and shipping arrangements. See samples and trial orders for how trial quantities are discussed.
Step 5: Document the results
Record material properties, process observations and any issues. Approve the supplier only when your internal criteria have been met.
Step 6: Confirm ongoing requirements
Agree on the specification, documentation, packaging and procedures for handling deviations.
